The cost that citizens will pay for the Milot-Balldren road has increased with 50 million EUR in a few months.
Top Channel published the official documents showing that the final cost was 41.5% higher until when the tender was opened.
The official relation of the state budget for 2018 lists all existing concessionary projects and those that are being planned.
For the Milot-Balldren road, the total cost of the concession is 14.2 billion ALL, but seven months later, when the bidding was announced, the Ministry of Infrastructure placed a limit fund of 20.1 billion ALL, or 50 million EUR more than the official announcement issued by the government itself.
Besides that, the 20.1 billion ALL figure is just the construction cost. The road will be built by private money, so the government will pay interest rates as well. The total figure paid to private concessions mounts up to 27 billion ALL, or twice more than the initial cost foreseen by the budget.
