Meta: Zero Constitutional violations. The Presidency refers to the Bundestag, not to the Venice Commission

“Albanians and international partners know that the President has defended the Constitution, the democratic order, political pluralism and that he has avoided bloodsheds and another Reichstag!” the Spokesman said, adding that the Albanian parties should listen to the Bundestag and sit in a dialogue table, the soonest possible, to resolve the political crisis in Albania before other conditions are added.

In a second reaction, the presidency said that “We do not comment on any classified documents coming from various institutions, including the Venice Commission.  Especially because today it is September 27th, 2019, while this document is dated September 29th, 2019. We are unclear whether it is a hasty mistake or will there be another document dated September 29th, 2019?”

Meanwhile, the SP parliamentary group leader said that Meta has violated the Constitution, but at what extent, that will be up to the legal process. MP Balla also quotes one part of the report: “The electoral boycott of political entities, even if they represent a large base of voters, cannot prevent the holding of regular elections. If that was the case, these parties would gain the right to obstruct every future electoral process. ”

Taulant Balla says that “Edi Rama has relentlessly declared how the elections could be held without the parties that boycotted them, and now the Venice Commission is saying it as well”.
