The discussion for the budget of 2015 started with the students of the
Faculty of Economy at the Students’ Town, the Tirana University campus,
where the opposition leader, Lulzim Basha, launched appeals for protest
against the government only a few days ago.

Ilir Meta declared that the new budget will guarantee a minimal growth of 3%, but he added that it could be even more if the government takes in consideration the interest groups. He declared that he was open to reflect with the remarks of the opposition.

“Don’t think that Prime Minister Rama is happy with this budget. He would have wanted more capital investments. But this is not bad. It is important to realize them on time and with the right quality, in order to have a bigger growth in 2016 and 2017, when the economic growth is expected to be 4% and 4.5%”, Meta declared.

The Parliament Speaker said that the opposition’s demands for increasing the spending in investments is wrong. He said that it was this method followed by the previous government which brought the extreme growth of the public debt. The Socialist Movement for Integration leader supported the operation started by the government for the electricity thefts.

“Although it looks like a cost for the citizens and for our economy, this operation will end the abuses and bad management of this sector. I am convinced that energy will start contributing positively before 2018”, Meta declared.
