23/07/2013 00:00

The Socialist Movement for Integration leader, Ilir Meta,  met today
with the leader of the Socialist Party and Prime Minister designate of
Albania, Edi Rama.

After the meeting that lasted about one hour, Meta gave no details but declared that it was more of a summer conversation than political.

As for the first 300 days of the governing program and the composition of the new cabinet, everything will be announced on the right time, according to Ilir Meta. As regards the delays in the certification of the June 23rd elections, Meta gave this answer.

“Transparency is important but it should always be according to the law. The Code has been very clear that the ballot box process could be made with five votes of the Central Election Commission members. This competence goes only to the Electoral College, since the Central Election Commission has only four members. The college has taken a clear legal decision and who doesn’t agree should follow the path decided by the law.”

From the Electoral College, which is reviewing the Socialist Movement for Integration’s request for Kukes, Ilir Meta declared that he only expects them to implement the law.

LSI: Electoral College decision, professional

The General Secretary of the Socialist Movement for Integration, Luan Rama, declared that the decision of the Electoral College for the recount of the Lezhe District votes was professional and accurate.

“The College, without any political influence, announced a decision based on the law and the professional awareness of judges. This is a sign of professional integrity”, Rama declared.

On behalf of the Socialist Movement for Integration and the new majority, Rama guaranteed that they will make possible for Albania to have justice institutions that act in accordance with the European standards and unaffected by politics.
