The Socialist Movement for Integration leader, Ilir Meta, met this
Saturday with the structures of his party in Elbasan, and focused his
speech on the territorial reform, which is a necessity for the country.
“2014 is the year of important reforms. We will keep our promises. The fast realization of the administrative reforms is necessary, since the current territorial division is very old”, Meta declared.
The SMI leader declare that Albania has too many local units, while other countries in the region, like Kosovo, have fewer.
“Having 150 communes, you cannot realize an investment that might guarantee jobs and incomes. Only with the realization of the administrative reforms we would save 80 million USD”, Meta declared.
Then he invited the opposition to be involved in this vital reform, suggesting them to not lose the chance of giving such an important contribution.
“The opposition should be included in this important reform. The international community supports its realization. The local power is a basic link in the functionality of all society”, Meta declared.
SMI appeals DP for the reform
The General Secretary of the Socialist Movement for Integration, Luan Rama, appealed the opposition to become part of the special commission of the administrative-territorial reform, what would enable a huge development of our country.
“This is the time to reflect for the interests of our country, and for the need that the opposition has to not get self-excluded, but become an integral part with serious contributions in this process”, he continued.
The opposition has rejected the appeals of Prime Minister Rama for an all-inclusive reform, and asked more guarantee for this process.
