The Socialist Movement for Integration leader, Ilir Meta, summoned this
Friday the leadership of his party, for the first time after the June
23rd elections.

Meta thanked the voters for the trust, and declared that it is now time for politics to get oriented on our country’s development.

“I thank you for the votes. I want to thank the 180.000 Albanians who voted nr.26. Now let’s see towards development and integration”, Meta declared.

He valued that the mission of the next government is to create trust among the citizens, to create a new constructive policy, far from what has characterized our country among the years.

“We should increase the trust on the new majority. This is not the time of arrogance, but of being correct with the citizens. Let’s consolidate the leadership of our country in its core, so that it can be comprehensive”, Meta declared.

He valued that now is time for an important change of the political system, as the only way for the majority to deserve the trust given by the citizens on the June 23rd elections.

“We should give up from exclusive and antagonist politics, because we have lost much time. We must work so that Albania deserves the candidate status”, Berisha declared.

By the end Meta held a press statement in which he answered to journalists.

“I thank the 1 million citizens who trusted the left alliance and participated in these elections massively. They showed an extraordinary scale of democratic culture, and I am convinced that with the June 23rd elections our country too a safe step not only for taking the status within this year, but also to guarantee an unstoppable process of development and European Union integratio.

I believe that this plebiscite vote has been read by everyone in the most responsible way, and it will be reflected in the constructive cooperation within the coalition which was confirmed by the meeting that I had today with Mr.Edi Rama.

This cooperation will dominate the political life after the June 23rd elections, so that Albania can go faster on the integration perspective. There will be a great dedication of politics to institutions for their functionality based on the law and Constitution.

Our stances have been and remain constant. We should keep in mind that important changes do not demand only a majority in numbers, but also a consensus with the opposition. We will work in all directions to reach what serves to democracy. The way how the Democratic Party will behave is only their responsibility, but there’s no reason for us to prejudge it.

We did not discuss about how the ministries will be shared, because these are not our main concerns, not as Socialist Movement for Integration and not as alliance. Leading a government together is not a matter of percentages, but a matter of common will to start a new politics in Albania which is based on cooperation for the country’s best interest”, Meta declared.
