The new opposition lost eight votes in the first political test on the
Parliament floor, with the voting of the new Speaker, Ilir Meta.
Meta received more votes than the 83 votes of the majority.
The Republican and Party for Justice, Integrity and Unity Parliament Members denied to have voted Meta, while Paloka says that this is not a problem for the Democratic Party, since the opposition in Parliament will not be a matter of numbers, but of quality.
“I didn’t count the votes because I had no interest about it. Who says that the votes against come from us? Our opposition is not a matter of numbers. We will show quality in opposition” Paloka declared.
Meta in his first speech as Parliament Speaker declared that he believed in constructive cooperation, by taking in consideration the fact that he was elected even with votes coming from the Democratic Party.
“I am sure that there is mutual will between the majority and the opposition to establish a new standard of political behavior, so that we can discuss the ideas, policies and laws, and not the person. I wish a good work to everyone, for the sake of Albania and the Albanians”, Meta declared.
Myqerem Tafaj and Ridvan Bode were not present even in the session when the 137 Parliament Members took their oath.
