Albanian president Ilir Meta rejected today the law amendment approved by the parliament “On value added tax in the Republic of Albania”.
The changes exclude from the import value added tax of yachts and other water vehicles used for tourism, recreation and entertainment purposes, not older than 20 years.
Meta justifies that this law is not in line with the country’s emergency needs.
“It is unfair and not at all welcome that this legal initiative is approved while many families and businesses affected by natural disasters are still waiting to be treated with financial support for the construction of their apartments destroyed by the earthquake. Meanwhile, despite this legitimate expectation, the Albanian government reacts in a completely opposite way by taking legal initiatives for fiscal relief on luxury vessels imports, such as yachts, “stated the President’s argument.
