The President of Albania received the European Commissioner for Migration, Home Affairs and Citizenship, Dimitris Avramopoulos.
Meta appreciated the initiatives of the European Commission for “Reinforcing the engagement for security and migration”, and “the Rule of Law”.
He also praised the agreement that allows FRONTEX to operate in Albania.
“A closer cooperation for managing migration, better border security and the fight against organized crime is not only welcome, but also necessary towards bigger challenges that we are facing”, Meta said.
As for Albania’s purpose to open the accession negotiations next year, Meta said that it is important to have concrete results for fulfilling key reforms.
