During an interview for “Albania Decides” on Top Channel, the Socialist
Movement for Integration leader, Ilir Meta, declared that it is up to
the Socialist Party to decide for the new Prime Minister.
Meta declared that he will respect the rules of democracy and the Constitution, and naturally it is up to the Socialist Party to take this responsibility.
“Certainly, if they don’t want it, we would accept it willingly. But we will respect the people’s will”, Meta declared.
As regards his position in the next government, Meta declared that nothing has been decided so far.
As for the victory, Meta declared that he didn’t expect such a massive vote for the Socialist Movement for Integration and the left coalition.
“I believe that people have evaluated the realistic political situation. I was sure about this result, although the system doesn’t favor votes for small parties. This is what our polls told us too. Victory is realistic and necessary for a wide change in Albania, which needs a comprehensive government and a new spirit”, Meta declared.
The Socialist Movement for Integration leader mentioned the incident in Lac. “Through violence and tension, the Democratic Party tried to overthrow the result in Lac, and this happened because the police was not correct”, Meta declared.
The Socialist Movement for Integration leader added that the law should be the priority of the new government, adding that every vote of the people should be read correctly, especially when we are talking about a competition where a small amount of votes can change many things.
Meta declared that the country needs a new economic structure that should be based on consumption and the emigrants’ remittances. We should favor domestic production to reduce imports and to increase exports, and agriculture and agro-industry will be the main priority, together with the mining sector and industrial parks for foreign investors”, Meta declared.
He added that the new government should be formed as soon as possible, not only for the economic and social need, but also for some duties that belong to the European integration, so that the candidate status can be achieved by the end of the year.
