The leader of the Socialist movement for Integration, Ilir Meta,
declared for the media that he is continuing the efforts for finding a
wide consensus with the opposition about the presidential election.
Meta raised the alarm bell about the time that is running out, but he underlined that the majority will try to find a consensus with the opposition. This consensus could be reached in a second meeting between Rama and Berisha, which is expected to take place on Sunday.
The consensus have made the parties not mention any concrete name for the presidential candidate, according to Meta, but he didn’t exclude any political candidacies, saying that our country has many good politicians for that job.
The election of a politician as president was mentioned since the beginning from the majority, who declared that they would appoint one of their people with simple majority, but they have abandoned this idea, since many members of the international community asked for a consensual president. According to the maximal deadlines offered by the Constitution, the President will be elected until Monday June 17.
