Albanian President Ilir Meta has started the consultations with the political parties for the date of the 2021 General Parliamentary elections.
In a document provided by Top Channel’s Muhamed Veliu, President Meta requested that consultations in the Presidency begin on Friday.
On Friday, Meta invited Prime Minister Edi Rama, or representatives authorized by him, to the Presidency to consult on the date of the elections.
“The President of the Republic, Ilir Meta in support of his Constitutional competencies, article 90 letter ‘gj’, after the entry into force of the consensual changes in the Electoral Code approved in law no. 101/2020, has decided to start the process of consultations with political parties in order to set the date of the next elections for the Assembly of the Republic of Albania. For this reason the President of the Republic invites to a meeting on Friday, 04.09.2020 at 11:00 at the Institution of the President of the Republic, the Chairman of the Socialist Party, Mr. Edi Rama and / or other persons authorized by him”, it is written in the invitation, a copy of which has been also sent to the leader of PD Lulzim Basha.
