The Parliament had a tense situation this Saturday, which turned into an
arena of accusations and counter-accusations, with former Prime
Minister Sali Berisha in the center of it.
The Socialist Party Parliamentary Group vice leader, Taulant Balla, denounced the way how taxes have been managed by the former Prime Minister’s cabinet. The former Prime Minister accused Prime Minister Edi Rama and Parliament Speaker Ilir Meta of corruptive and illegal interventions at the tax server.
“You should be ashamed for turning the General Tax Director into a collaborator. To the one that used to be your Minister of Finances, the Director of Taxes, you said: ‘I don’t know you. I receive orders only from the Prime Minister.’ You must answer for how you established the scheme for robbing 7 million EUR within one single day. Certainly, now you don’t have the smile on your face and you’re scared, because the investigations are going to the source, to the General Director, who was responsible for the entire scheme. Certainly that the director will make your name one day”, Balla declared.
“The one who spoke was a person who is suspected of raping a girl in Rajce; who is suspected for being caught in the borders of Albania with prostitution traffic, when Fatos Nano was Prime Minister, and who is suspected for favoring the drug market”, declared the former Prime Minister, Sali Berisha.
“People have been offended here for years by this person (Sali Berisha), always with things that makes us tell the media to not allow people under 18 follow the Parliament debates”, declared the Socialist Party Parliament Member, Besnik Bare.
The former Prime Minister replied to everyone, but this is not something new. What’s new is that different from the other times, the Parliament Speaker decided to implement the regulation even for the former Prime Minister, and cut his speech when his time was over.
The Parliament Speaker used to allow the former Prime Minister to answer for as long as he wanted, but it seems that this will not happen anymore.
