The Parliament Speaker, Ilir Meta, released a press conference after the
opposition warned of popular reaction if the majority will vote the
territorial reform.
“The threat with protests remains a right of the opposition, but it sounds absurd, when they have a consensus that was generously offered for a reform that is required not only by our citizens, but also by the international community”, Meta declared.
The Parliament Speaker reminded that the majority has been waiting the opposition for the past three months to become part of this process, although they have the necessary votes. And the majority has guaranteed equity with the majority, which rejects all of their claims for ultimatums and arrogance from the government.
“Naturally, the time goes by and there are constitutional deadlines for realizing this reform. Our desire is for the opposition to take the responsibility and show their will to become part of it”, Meta declared.
The Socialist Movement for Integration leader invited the opposition to be more responsible and withdraw from the accusations for the Armed Forces and the Police, since they damage the public order and security.
Then Meta gave the maximal support for the first person in charge of the Interior Ministry, Saimir Tahiri. When asked if the message of the Investigative Commission has come from the Secret Service, Meta declared that the policy followed by the opposition is that of spying. He expressed his trust that the message sent from Tahiri to his dependants shows the Minister’s responsibility.
“Unwillingly, the opposition put a medal on Tahiri’s chest. The text that Tahiri has sent to his dependants shows this sensibility about the concrete situation and the good will to motivate their dependants”, Meta declared.
