Recognizing the positive progress in the dialogue with Serbia, the German Chancellor underlined that the agreements reached so far between both countries need to be implemented.
Kosovo must increase its efforts against corruption and unemployment. This was the message given by the German Chancellor, Angela Merkel, after meeting with the President of Kosovo, Hashim Thaci.
“I think that the agreements need to be implemented, and the energy issue must also be a priority. I want to underline that on the day of Europe we have many challenges ahead of us, such as the rule of law, fight against corruption and unemployment”, Merkel said.
At their joint press release Thaci confirmed that Kosovo is dedicated to work for peace and stability in Balkan. He added that the final phase of dialogue with Serbia will not be easy, but there is no other way to progress.
“We need to find a way to reach a final agreement and enter the era of peace and reconciliation between our people. The agreement should conclude with mutual recognition”, Thaci said.
During his visit in Berlin, President Thaci met with leaders of many institutions in Germany, with whom he discussed Kosovo’s European agenda.
