Eight memorials have been presented in Tirana for the memorial that will
be built at the Kllogjer village, Konispol, in honor of the Cham
Albanians who died of hunger and heat after being pushed by force from
their houses by the Greek army in Napolon Zerva, 1944.

Seven architectural studios from Albania and one from Kosovo
participated in this competition with the ideas of how this memorial
should be.

Shpetim Idrizi, head of the Party for Justice, Integration and Unity, expressed the significance of this monument.
“This is a monument for all Albanians, not only those from Chameria.
They gave their lives only because they were Albanians. Honoring them is
a duty to all of us. Some part of this project will be financed by the
Cham community and some from the government. We hope to have this
memorial finalized by June 27th”, Idrizi declared.

Since the fall of communism, this cemetery near Qafe Bota has turned into an annual pilgrimage for the Cham Community.
