Who are the members of the new government that will start working in
September? Here is a collection of the Cvs of the nexpt Prime Minister,
the Deputy Prime Minister and 19 Ministers.

Edi Rama, Prime Minister
Started his political career in 1990 with the creation of the Democratic Party. After leaving Albania he returned in 1998 as Miniser of Culture, a post that he held until 2000, when he was elected for the first time Mayor of Tirana, a post that he held for three until 2011. Rama has been the leader of the Socialist Party since 2005.

Niko Peleshi, Deputy Prime Minister
Former local leader of the Socialist Party, Niko Peleshi has been the Mayor of Korce since 2007, a post that he now has to leave.

Shkëlqim Cani, Minister of Finances
Being for years in the leading forums of the Socialist Party, Shkelqim Cani was Governor of Bank of Albania from 1997 to 2004. In the elections 2013, Cani was elected as an Parliament Member in Diber.

Saimir Tahiri, Interior Minister

Elected as an Parliament Member of the Albanian Parliament in 2009, as representative of the Tirana District, Tahiri works as the local leader of the Socialist Party for Tirana.

Mimi Kodheli, Defense Minister
he Vice Mayor of Tirana in the 2002-2005 period, and since 2009 a Parliament Member of the Albanian Parliament.

Ditmir Bushati, Foreign Minister
In the period 2007-2009, Ditmir Bushati has been a member of the Tirana Municipal Council, a post he left in 2009, when elected as a Parliament Member in Tirana.

Klajda Gjosha, Minister of European Integration
She was elected as a Parliament Member for the first time in the June 23rd elections. Since January she has been a Deputy Minister of Labor, Social Matters and Equal Opportunities. Gjosha is also the vice leader of the Socialist Movement for Integration.

Nacip Naço, Minister of Justice
A prosecutor from 1992 to 2008. In 2009 Naco was elected Parliament Member in Berat. Until 2013 he served as Vice Speaker of the Parliament and Minister of Economy, Trade and Energy.

Arben Ahmetaj, Minister of Economic Development, Trade and Enterprising
Former director of the Tax Office since the first Nano government. From 2003 to 2005 Ahmetaj worked as Deputy Minister of Energy and Industry, and Deputy Minister of European Integration. Since 2009 he has served as Parliament Member.

Damian Gjiknuri, Minister of Energy and Industry
Served in former Socialist administrations in technical posts at the Ministry of Public Order and the Ministry of Defense. He has been a member of the Parliament since 2009.

Eglantina Gjermeni, Minister of Urban Development and Tourism
In 2009 she was elected for the first time as a member of the Albanian Parliament, after a long experience in the civil society.

Edmond Haxhinasto, Minister of Transport and Infrastructure
Worked as Deputy Minister of Transport and Public Works from October 2009 to September 2010. Appointed Minister of Foreign Affairs right after that, until 2012. Since 2011 Haxhinasto has worked as Deputy Prime Minister.

Edmond Panariti, Minister of Agriculture, Rural Development and Water Resources
Edmond Panariti has worked as vice Mayor of Tirana from 2011 to 2012, when he was appointed Minister of Foreign Affairs.

Ilir Beqja, Health Minister
Ilir Beqja has worked as Director of the Social Insurance Institutions. In 2009 he was elected Parliament Member but his mandate was removed after a Constitutional Court decision.

Lindita Nikolli, Minister of Sport and Education
Lindita Nikolli has worked as Head of Municipal Unit 1, a duty that she left in 2013 after being elected Parliament Member.

Erjon Veliaj, Minister of Social Welfare and Youth
Founder of the “MJAFT” movement in 2003, an organization that he led until 2007. In 2009 he was a candidate for the G99 civil list. In 2011 he joined the Socialist Party as Secretary for Youth and Emigration.

Mirela Kumbaro, Minister of Culture
Mirela Kumbaro is a professor, translator and publicist. She has had no former political duties.

Lefter Koka, Minister of Environment
2000-2003, Member of the Durres Municipal Council. 2003-2007, Mayor of Durres. In 2009 he was elected Parliament Member for Durres, with the Socialist Movement for Integration.

Milena Harito, Minister for Innovation and Public Administration
Graduated with excellent results for Information Sciences, at the Tirana Science Faculty, Harito held her post-university studies in France, at the Paris VI University “Pierre et Marie Curie”, where she graduated with a master degree and then Doctor of Sciences in Information Technologies and Electronic Communication.

Blend Çuçi, Minister for Local Matters
Blend Çuçi worked as Vice Secretary for the Electoral Matters at the Socialist Party.

Ilirjan Celibashi, Minister for the Relations with the Parliament
In February 2001, Celibashi was elected member of the Central Election Commission by the High Council of Justice. On February of the same year he was elected Chairman of the Central Election Commission. He kept this duty until his mandate expired, on April 2006. In 2013 he was elected Parliament Member for Fier.
