Top Channel’s journalist, Marin Mema, was banned from entering Greece a few days ago at the Albanian-Greek border. He declared that none of his news stories have ever had anti-Greek appeals.

Speaking on an interview for the VOA, Mema considered as absurd the claims of the Greek police that he was a danger for the public security of their country.

“My news reports in Magerllic, Gumenica and Filat, have no appeals against Greece. I have never wanted to create problems between Albania and Greece”, Mema declared, claiming that he has realized exactly the opposite.

“I have also realized news reports with the Greek minority in Dropull, which have shown the good relations between the Albanians and the Greek minority”, Mema underlined.

Journalist Marin Mema was declared a dangerous person for the national security of Greece and for this reason he is not allowed to enter the Greek territory.

This decision was communicated to him this Sunday afternoon while he was trying to enter Greece through the Qafe-Bote border checkpoint.

Despite the fact that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs had asked explanations from the Greek embassy regarding this case, the Greek authorities have given no answers.

The Journalist Union of Albania condemned the action of the Greek police by protesting in front of the Greek Embassy in Tirana.

The Media Organization for Southeastern Europe, with its headquarters in Vienna, (SEEMO), has condemned this action of the Greek authorities against the Albanian reporter.

This organization, member of the International Media Institution asked the Greek Authorities to explain why Top Channel’s journalist was banned from entering Greece.
