The Medieval Museum was inaugurated in Korca, where 400 icons were put
on display for the public. 250 of them, according to the Minister of
Culture, Mirela Kumbaro, are being displayed for the first time.
PM Rama said that the cultural heritage is finally being protected and studied in optimal conditions.
The Prime Minister focused on the work done by the government for culture, and brought Berat and Gjirokastra as examples.
“It is part of our approach, not to revive the cultural heritage, but to revive our respect for it. Gjirokastra and Berat had entered UNESCO’s black list and were considered assets on the way to extinction. The government invested money and knowledge, and truth is that Berat and Gjirokaster are no longer in the black list of UNESCO”, he said.
Rama said that these are some key parts of our heritage, and they have been looking for various cooperation possibilities to intervene. Rama mentioned the Durres Museum of Archeology as a success model.
