The boycott of the students of the faculty of medicine continues for several days now, against the government’s order to ban employment outside Albania for five years after the end of studies.

They have blocked the entrance to the faculty not only for medical students but also for lecturers and students of other related branches such as pharmacy and dentistry.

“This is our way. We will escalate the protest. We are waiting for the filing of the lawsuit in the Constitutional Court. We will continue the boycott. We have no reply so far, we are waiting” – said a protesting student.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Education insists on the law approved by the Assembly that doctors after completing their studies serve in their country.

“Students have their right to protest, but the Law is approved in the Albanian Assembly and aims to ensure the provision of health care in Albania,” said Zamira Gjini, policy director at the Ministry of Education.

The medical students believe that after they file the lawsuit in the Constitutional Court, there will be a decision in their favor, that is, the repeal of the law that they consider as a violation of the specified obligation.
