The medicine stalemate in the Albanian market has ended. An order signed
this Monday by the Health Ministry and the Ministry of Finances
postponed the implementation of the decision for buying the medicaments’
stamps from an Albanian concessionary, and then sending it to the
international companies that produce medicine, and put them on the box.
This was rejected by the producing companies, and the Tirana customs had blocked trucks of medicines and vaccines arrived from abroad, which have stayed under the sun for several days, since the Ministry of Finances had requested to start the implementation of the stamp on August 6th.
This revolted the distributors, who could lose large amounts of medicines that were not being allowed to enter the country. Meanwhile, pharmacies and hospitals started feeling the lack of medicine.
The Prime Minister instructed the Health Minister to postpone the the fiscal stamp decision. The two respective ministries signed this Monday the instruction that postponed the implementation of this decision, which will alow the medicines to supply the market.
