Medicine business against Ministry

The order removes producer authorization and verification of registration bar, and also postpones the tender date for this reason, only for one group of medicaments. According to pharmaceutical businesses, this might make several companies bring uncontrolled products.

“This order damages equality of tenders, and most importantly, the national conventions in which Albania is part of. If the situation will not be monitored properly by the Health Ministry, then the security of medicaments and their tenders will be put in question”, declared Roland Xhafa, from the association of Pharmaceutical Representatives.

“All these standards foreseen by law are in full accordance with the international standards and we cannot violate them. The price cannot be the only thing that we can support”, declared Gramoz Dushi, a distributor.

Pharmaceutical businesses have expressed their discontent with the new law of medicaments which is expected to pass soon, since it didn’t receive their approval.

Now they have even learned that this is not the draft law that has been presented to them, but another one that has not been consulted with the interest groups. For this reason, they demand to sit and discuss with the Health Ministry, maybe even for dictating ways to reduce the price.

Right after the declarations released by the pharmaceutical business and their representatives in Tirana, the Ministry of Health reacted with a press release and declared that their interest was to secure more medicaments for hospitals without damaging their quality.

The hospital list for 2014 has 525 medicaments in total, from 237 that there were last year, and they say that this was made possible with the same quantity of money. As regards the law for medicaments, the declaration says that all interest groups are invited for consultation. The latter claim that none of their recommendations has been taken in consideration.
