After the debate that our country is receiving unsafe medicaments, the
Health Minister, Ilir Beqja, guaranteed for their quality by saying that
the Medicament Control Center makes all necessary tests, and these
accusations are made because of changed business deals.
“We have dealt with specific cases to verify the origin of 22 medicaments, and we have made the physical and chemical tests for 78 medicaments at the Control Center. With this I want to underline that we have the professional abilities to make the medicament analyzes, while we are continuing with the process of 185 other medicaments, based first of all on principle”, Beqja declared.
The Minister has guaranteed that the medicament price has been reduced, but in the reimbursement list it is the citizen who chooses the alternative that reimburses 100%, or he may chose to pay with the Insurance Fund.
“Based on the registration list, we have three alternatives from Luxembourg, Poland and Switzerland. Last year we had only one alternative and its price was 3211. This year, the same medicament and the same producer costs 2586 ALL. There is no price increase for any medicament in Albania this year. There are two other alternatives, and this is the same active principle. Certainly that they have been registered in the reimbursement scheme, which covers 100% of it in the cheapest alternative. For the two other more expensive alternatives, the citizen who chooses not the cheapest one, must accept to pay the part that is above the cheapest alternative”, Beqja declared.
The Health Minister declared that they will inspect the receipts issued by doctors who often orient their patients to the pharmaceutical products they have interest into.
