Despite the actions that are taken each year for stopping poaching in
the Pogradec Lake, fishermen have continued with their illegal activity
even this year.
Different from other times, the action started with clashes with the authorities. The Ministry of Environment, in cooperation with the Fishing Association, faced clashes with fisherman when trying to remove the nets that were placed illegally.
However, the operation continued and the vessels and nets were all seized.
The operation for protecting the “Koran” trout will continue even in the days to come. The fishing association has often reported poaching of the “Koran” trout, a species that can be found only in the Lake of Pogradec.
