The Mayor of Kavaja, Elvis Rroshi, resigned this Tuesday from his duty and posted his decision on Facebook.
He says that the Mayor of Kavaja is resigning for a sentence that he had received in Italy when he was a minor, without his knowledge.
Rroshi says was is shocked to find out through his lawyers that he had been sentenced when he was a minor in Italy, while staying in a refugee camp and without knowing any word of Italian.
He says he has never appeared at court or been at prison for a sentence given to him when he was 16. For this reason, Rroshi resigned.
