A powerful fire broke up this afternoon in the premises of the former
Sugar Plant in Maliq. The fire started at one part of the building,
which was used for gathering scrap material. Endangered by the flames
was a nearby alcohol warehouse.
The building that caught fire belongs to a private scrap company that also dismantles heavy metal hardware. Police forces and four fire engines arrived on the scene and tried to put out the fire after evacuating all personnel.
No one was hurt, but material damages were great, while police started to investigate for the cause. The Police have not been able to determine the cause of the fire.
