Answering to the opposition’s claims that the majority is trying to
remove them from Parliament, Gramoz Ruci, the Head of the Socialist
Party Parliamentary Group, read the statistics of the past session,
which shows that the opposition has spoken 30 minutes more than the
majority in Parliament. He also mentioned the historic record of Sali
Berisha, with 12 hours and 46 minutes, while Prime Minister’s Rama
longest stay on the podium has been five hours and 23 minutes.
However, Gramoz Ruci said they were open to change the regulation, although the opposition of today rejected the same requests to the majority of today, when they were in power.
“We requested this for ourselves and certainly that we want it to be respected. We will approve the opposition’s request for allowing the opposition leader to talk right after the Prime Minister”, Ruci declared.
The majority has accepted also the other request of the opposition, that of establishing investigative committees. Ruci explained that his party has never been against these requests, they simply are holding the same stance.
“We absolutely agree to implement the Constitution and the law requests for establishing investigative commissions. We want the opposition’s approach in both investigative commissions, the one for the tax office issue and the other for the public administration”, Gramoz Ruci declared.
The Albanian Prime Minister, Edi Rama, reiterated to the opposition the same offer for what they have chosen to call “decriminalization” of the Parliament. Rama said that the paradox of this opposition is that this campaign against alleged MPs of the majority with a criminal past is being directed for the opposition by an ex-convict.
“We are in front of an argument and it is up to the opposition to do it. If the opposition wants people to be held responsible for assumed and imaginative acts, or for acts that have been cleaned by the respective institutions, then what should we do with this ordinary ex-con who was convicted for fraud and corruption, and who is part of the Albanian Parliament”, Rama declared.
