The Albanian Minister for the Diaspora, Pandeli Majko, has brought a draft-law that aims to include the Diaspora in the local government.

The draft was discussed at the Consultative Council meeting, in which Majko said that the new structure explains the need for changes.

According to Majko, the local government law needs amends that guarantee the involvement of Albanians who live abroad as an integral part of the community.

The Minister proposes the creation of special offices for the Diaspora, which will serve as communication points between local governments and Albanian communities who live abroad. These points would offer information and assistance related to various documentation, business, etc.

The members of the council had a positive reaction to the Minister’s propositions, saying that the creation of such an office is very important to connect citizens abroad who are interested to make investments.
