The President of Macedonia, Gjorgje Ivanov, said that the law that makes Albanian second official language is anti-constitutional and prone to cause ethnic tension.
He said that he would not decree the law which was voted among scuffles during this Wednesday’s Parliamentary session.
Ivanov accused Prime Minister Zoran and the majority of not respecting the guarantees they had pledged, of respecting the Constitution and not passing anti-state laws.
However, based on Article 75 of the Constitution, Ivanov will be forced to decree the law if it is approved for a second time by the Parliament.
Speaker Talat Xhaferi said that the President does not have the competence to validate the constitutionality of this law. This competence belongs only to the Constitutional Court.
On social networks, in the meanwhile, there are many profiles encouraging ethnic violence and appealing Macedonians to block roads in protest of the law that makes Albanian second official language.
