The Macedonian Parliament is expected to hold a special session today, to appoint the new Speaker.
Gruevski’s VMRO-DPMNE refused to comment if they support the candidate chosen by the new majority, Talat Xhaferi.
Macedonian news agency INA reports that the Besa movement might come up with its own candidate. The Speaker is appointed by a simple majority of 61 votes.
Gruevski appealed once again for new elections, while his supporters have warned for more protests.
Zaev’s LSDM responded to his appeals by saying that the will of the people of Macedonia was clearly stated in the last elections.
All parties found consensus this Thursday to form the Appointments Committee. The VMRO will have six members, LSDM 5, Albanian parties Besa and BDI will have one member each.
