Two of the highest representatives of the Socialist Party and the Socialist Movement for Integration clashed today for yet another battle of words between to allies. Saimir Tahiri and Luan Rama exchanged critics after commenting the annual State Dept. report on Albania.

“The situation of narcotics in Albania is dramatic”, Rama said in e press conference. “SMI has appealed for the importance of the war against drug traffickers. And also requests law enforcing agencies to react more responsibly. State agencies have not shown the right reaction. The time is alarming and we need to show a concrete reaction”, Rama added.

He also confirmed cabinet changes were not requested from his party. “SMI did not make any request. Naming ministers is a constitutional right of the Prime Minister”, Rama said.

Tahiri’s response was harsh calling the Secretary General of SMI a spokesperson and saying the party’s comments on State Dept. report was inaccurate. He also spoke about “hyena that came out from SP courtyard and want us to fail, but got their response almost 4 years ago, response that will be repeated again on June 18th.”
