The Socialist leader, Edi Rama, reacted for the national lottery tender.
In an interview for Top Channel, Rama considered it a criminal activity
and declared that the opposition will not recognize it.
“This is a criminal activity that damages the public interest. I want to make it clear that we will not recognize it and we will return it to the public, where it belongs”, Rama declared.
Rama declared that the government cannot sell a public asset without a competition, and he considered the declarations of the Minister of Finances as unacceptable, when he says that the government will compensate the money with the 10% of the profits.
“The public should profit through the state not 10%, but 90%, at least 80% of the profit”, the Socialist leader declard.
Rama added that the national lottery is not like the random gambling games, but it is a public right that belongs to the people, and not to the government’s clients.
“PM Thatcher in England turned the lottery into a mechanism for encouraging arts, sports and social policies, same as in many other countries that follow the same logic. The logic that has followed this tender is the theft of a public asset for the government’s clients”, Rama declared.
The tender for the national lottery comes after the law for the privatization of Albpetrol, a process that has been followed with strong debates due to the formula that sells everything that belongs to the state.
“I suggest to these gentlemen who have stolen every real estate and now have turned to the public rights, that they are there to govern for the public”, Rama added.
Regardless the reports and strong accusations by some private companies, the Ministry of Finances held the tender of the national lottery, where only two companies were present.
