All vehicle inspection checkpoints in Albania have had long queues in
the last days, with motorists lining to pay the taxes and finish with
the vehicle check. Some of them have been obliged to stay for days.
Most of the delays are caused due to the lack of tellers for paying the taxes and fines. The procedure itself takes very long and makes people stand in line in several offices.
This situation can be found in Shkoder, Diber, Lezhe, Durres, Fier, Vlore, Gjirokaster, Korce and Berat. The situation has seemingly been created due to an amnesty for the fines of 2010, which made all drivers make the payment by the end of the year, and now they come one year later creating a very indecent situation.
Thesituation in Tirana is even worse, and motorists say that there are middle men who profit from the long lines and offer quick payments for a quantity of money.
