Allowing an illegal construction near the Vjosa river in Kelcyra has come with a high cost for the local police.

There has been a report on September 5th for the construction materials that were about to deviate a natural water source, but it has not been referred to the Prosecution.

For this reason, the General Chief of Police, Haki Cako, has given harsh measures against the staff, with even criminal responsibility.

The Chief of Police in Permet, Gazment Shehu, and the Kelcyra Chief of Station, Edmond Anxhara, were both removed from their duties.

Also Inspector Dashnor Jakupi, Specialist of the Local Police; has been suspended from his duty, while Lorenc Panganika and Koco Dafa, at the Gjirokaster Police, have received a warning.

The Service for Internal Matters and Complaints referred the materials to the Prosecution for power abuse, while Interior Minister Fatmir Xhafaj reacted through a letter sent to Police leaders. Top Channel has obtained a copy of this letter, which underlines the need for more inspection of the territory, and reminded local police of their legal responsibilities for identifying and punishing law violations related to illegal construction and preservation of environment.

Prime Minister Rama also reacted about the acse, saying that this should be a norm for any crime against the environment.
