Local observers: “Family voting, a problem”

The final report of the Local Observers says that the June 23rd elections have positive changes.

“The climate of these elections is a novelty, compared to the other elections that we have observed. The novelty was the accepting of the result by all political forces”, says Gerta Meta from the local coalition observers.

The final report underlines that despite progress, there have been a high number of people who vote as a family, with more than one voter in the secret room.

The report says that there has been a high number of people photographing their vots, which is prohibited by the electoral code. The Local Observers’ Coalition agrees with what some politicians have declared, that voters have been intimidated.

But the local observers see as a problem the legitimization of this process, since the Central Election Commission is unable to approve the process without the Socialist Party members who resigned.

The coalition concludes that the Albanian system definitely needs an electoral reform.
