The Minister for Local Matters, Bledi Cuci, and the representative of
USAID in Albania, Marcus Johnson, were part of the first consultative
meeting organized for the new law “for the Organization and
Functionality of the Local Government in Albania”.
“USAID is supporting the government of Albania for drafting a new law and for reflecting the current economic and territorial changes, which will enable a better management of the structures, sources and offering of local services for citizens. The meeting was for having the interested parties sit in a table and share their considerations regarding the current law, and take their opinions on the vision and structure of the new law.
In this meeting were present mayors from local units, partners of the USAID project for Planning and Local Government, and members from the Swiss Project for Local Decentralization and Development, and representatives of local associations and other actors.
The USAID Project for Planning and Local Government works for strengthening the local government in Albania and implementing the decentralization legislation and policies by offering technical assistance for the government of Albania and local units.
