Today, the Llogara tunnel on the main coastal road axis, in the southwest of Albania, was officially opened.

With a length of 5.9 kilometers, the tunnel will significantly shorten the travel time to the south coast, the distance from Dukati to Palasa that used to take 30 minutes via the mountain road through the Llogara park, now the citizens travel it in only 7 minutes.

Under the songs of local polyphonic groups, many citizens and Prime Minister Edi Rama inaugurated the opening of the tunnel.

Early in the morning, the head of the government Rama, shared a photo of the tunnel on his FB social network, describing it as a historical work that will forever change the journey to the south of Albania.

The Llogora tunnel consists of two tunnels, the main one and the emergency tunnel. Both tunnels have 11 connecting tunnels along their entire length. The Llogora tunnel will have a vehicle speed of about 80 km per hour.

This investment of 140 million euros by the Albanian government shortens the way for travelers especially summer vacationers, from Vlora to Palasa, which used to take 1 hour of time, will now be done in 20 minutes, thus avoiding the turns and slopes of Llogara.

The opening of the tunnel to the traffic will be done in stages, initially for passenger cars and buses, and then for heavy tonnage vehicles.
