The Center for Openness and Dialogue organized a roundtable meeting at the Prime Minister’s library, titled “Challenges of Albanian Language Today”.

Present in the meeting were researchers from Albanian universities in Albania, Kosovo and Macedonia, translators and representatives of many institutions.

Linguist Gjovalin Shkurtaj said that the state has kept an indolent stance as regards the Albanian language in offices and publishing institutions, such as journalists, magazines and public speeches.

Professor Rrahman Pacarizi, from the Prishtina University, insisted that foreign names should be written in their original form, a topic discussed many times in Albania.

Anila Omari, from the Albanogy Studies, raised the problem of not having a large Albanian Dictionary to include more lexical assets of our language.
