Sander Simoni, President of the Court of Serious Crimes, proposed that
the softer laws for drug possession sentences should also change
regarding the level of danger.
Simoni insists that criminal policies need to be harsher, especially against traffickers and those arrested with strong drugs, such as cocaine and heroine.
Simoni proposes different sentences even for cannabis, based on the criminal type, a line that is similar with the version of the Minister of Interior, Saimir Tahiri.
249 people have been sentenced for drug possession from January to October, all suspected of being implicated for traffic of cannabis. With the differentiated legislation, many of them would be tried for easier drug related crimes, especially those related to cannabis.
