In his second day of his visit in Tirana, David Lidington, Minister of
State at the UK for the European Matters, held a meeting with Prime
Minister Edi Rama.

The Prime Minister’s press office declared that the meeting’s focus was Albania’s European perspective.

Rama updated Minister Lidington with the reforms taken so far, underlining that although Albania did not receive the candidate status in December, the Albanian government remains determined to fulfill all the priorities that are required in this process.

“Lidington valued the position expressed by Prime Minister Rama, and valued the reforms taken so far by the Albanian government”, says the Prime Ministry’s press release.

Mr.Lidington, in another meeting with the Parliament Speaker, Ilir Meta, asked for a reinforcement of the rule of law and reforms in justice, which, according to him, will be key in this direction.

Parliament Speaker Ilir Meta valued the relations between the two countries as excellent and underlined that Great Britain represents an important partner for the future of Albania and the region.

Mr.Lidington noted that the Great Britain remains dedicated to Albania and the region, and in this context they are ready to expand its support in the advancing of the reforms of Albania.
