The Albanian PM, Edi Rama, together with the Albanian Health Minister,
Ilir Beqja, and the US Ambassador to Tirana, Alexander Arvizu,
inaugurated the new Waiting Room at the Lezhe Regional Hospital, renewed
by USAID.
“We are happy to inaugurate the creation of a hospital consultative council that will work with the community. The USA are proud that the Albanian government has chosen this approach as regards cooperation with the communication, such as with the education sector. The same thing is being implemented with the health sector”, Ambassador Arvizu declared.
“This project is one of the first examples of the transformation that will follow in all points where the people will contact the state in hospitals. It is a pleasure that this day coincides with the first day when all Albanian health personnel is being paid through the honest taxation. I saw the happy nurses and smiling doctors. This will continue and I am sure it will reinforce the relations between the hospital personnel, the Health Ministry, the government, the local administration and the community, and that it will also give more opportunities to those who serve in hospitals, since they will receive more money from their honest job and will have a better life”, Rama declared.
“We are committed to open a working site in the health system and make a transformation. It is necessary to complete this as soon as possible, and keep a continuous supply of medicine. We are committed that hospital will be not only centers where diseases are treated, but also centers of human solidarity”, declared the Health Minister Ilir Beqja.
The Lezhe Regional hospital is one of the three pilot hospitals in which USAID has worked for better management systems.
During his visit in Lezhe, Rama also inspected the construction works of the Milot-Lezhe road, an investment of the Albanian Road Authority that mounts up to 380 million ALL.
