On his first public appearance after many years, the first contender of the Albanian royal throne, Leka I, joined the voices raised against the ethnic and religious registration by signing the petition.

His signature is the 20,000th in the list of the citizens who oppose the registration.

“You have started a national initiative, and we wish you success. You and your collaborators have undertaken an initiative that is not only necessary, but also dangerous”, Leka I declared.

During the meeting, Vice Chair of the High Council of Justice, Kreshnik Spahiu, valued the historical role of the royal family.

“It is a pleasure that this is the 20,000th signature. It is very significant, because a constitutional right of the citizens is being fulfilled, for demanding a new law bill. This initiative aims to break servility and phobia, by returning dignity to our state”, Spahiu declared.
