The Minister of Transports, Edmond Haxhinasto, declared that all
measures will be taken for the measures that are foreseen by the law
against any violation committed by the Belle Air Company, which has sold
tickets even after declaring bankruptcy.
“We have shown maximal flexibility to support it as a company that offered services to thousands of Albanian citizens. But the company must respect the law, and our institutions should monitor and punish it if it breaks the law”, Haxhinasto declared.
Haxhinasto gave these comments during an inspection of the Technical Control Center of Automobiles, underlining the problematic situation of the road infrastructure, which has recently turned into a source of accidents.
“The funds for road maintenance, a very important aspect of road safety, have increased six to seven times in the next budget. We are still far from the road maintenance standards”, Haxhinasto declared.
For Haxhinasto, another important element that serves to the increase road safety is giving priority to technical inspection for all vehicles.
The Belle Air company employees say that 476 of contracted personnel and hundreds of others who depend from it, have not been paid for September, October and November.
“Without any announcement, although they had planned in details bankruptcy for reconstruction, the employees were not announced, but they simply closed doors and left employees in uniforms staying outside, facing passengers who wanted an explanation”, the letter says.
They want the money taken from passengers to be used for paying the employees, since flights have continued regularly until the last day, and planes were full of passengers.
