Lefter Maliqi is the first one from the Democratic Party who accepts to sit in Parliament as a new MP. Far from media attention, he handed over the application this Monday.
“I could have not accepted it, but my contract is with the people and this is not hypocrisy. Basha promised me to become MP after Halimi, and now he is keeping his word. Once in 10 lies, he keeps a promise”, he said.
After not winning in 2017, Maliqi abandoned the Democratic Party and joined the Socialists, but he says he will be a reasonable opposition member in Parliament.
The candidate said that he wasn’t contacted by the Socialists about this, but he confirms that the Democrats have called him several times.
“They can say I am a traitor, but look at who they are in coalition with. I don’t care if I will be in Parliament for five days or two years. I must speak on behalf of the people”, Maliqi said.
