The Socialist and Socialist Movement for Integration councillors had a
conflict today at the Tirana Municipality with the Democratic Party
opponents. The left councillors, now a majority, after the unification
of the Socialist Party with the Socialist Movement for Integration,
summoned a meeting of the Council to replace the Democratic Party
chairman, Njazi Kosovrasti, with the Socialist Party councilor, Aldrin
Dalipi.
But they were not allowed to enter the Council meeting room and accused Mayor Lulzim Basha of changing the locks of the institution just to stop this meeting from happening.
However, the left councilors held the meeting at the lobby, in very unusual conditions, and replaced Njazi Kosovrasti with Aldrin Dalipi.
The newly elected Chairman of the Tirana Municipal Council, Aldrin Dalipi, declared for Top Channel that the Albanian capital did not deserve today’s incident. He reported that the Mayor had changed the locks of the Tirana Municipality, and all the computers and documentations were also locked.
“These incidents are about the meaning of democracy. We are the majority and we voted in a transparent way”, Dalipi declared.
