The Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK) and the Democratic League of Kosovo
(LDK) have signed this Monday their ruling coalition. The LDK leader,
Isa Mustafa, will be Kosovo’s next Prime Minister; the Parliament
Speaker will go to Kadri Veseli, Vice Leader of the PDK, and Hashim
Thaci will be President, after the Constitutional Mandate of the current
President will be over.
This coalition will last until 2018 and it will continue the dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia.
After signing the agreement, the MPs of the fifth Legislature gathered in Parliament to continue the session where they interrupted it months ago.
Speaker Brovina asked the Parliamentary Group of the PDK to propose the Parliament Speaker, and Hajredin Kuci proposed Kadri Veseli. During this presentation, Kuci underlined the fact that Veseli is one of the founders of the Kosovo Liberation Army.
71 of 119 MPs who were present in this session voted in favor of his appointing as Parliament Speaker, besides the opposition.
“This is the confirmation that there is no democracy in Kosovo. There is no justice, no republic”. Declared Visar Ymeri, MP of the Self-Determination Movement.
The new speaker, Veseli, spoke in front of the Parliament, while his speech was boycotted by the opposition.
“This Parliament will be the place of inclusive debates and compromises, not of exclusive methods. As Parliament speaker, I will respect your word and will make sure that our debates will be above the political interests, only in our country’s interest”, Veseli declared.
