Lazarat seems to have stopped to the same place it was two years ago,
when police entered for the first time after many years and destroyed
the cannabis parcels.
“F**k the Police”, “F**K Edi” is written on the village walls, while residents feel that they have been discriminated.
“Why did the government release the incriminated ones, and they left? They are the ones who sell drugs. Why didn’t the state catch them, but sentenced 150 men from our village from 5 to 6 years in prison?”, one man says.
Two years after cannabis disappeared from Lazarat, people are trying to plant it throughout other areas of Albania. This is one more reason for the residents in this village to think they are discriminated.
“Hope for our future has been killed”, one resident says.
“There were 3000 people employed here, from all over Albania. From Elbasan, Gjirokaster, Tepelena. Look at it now”, another one says.
