Lawsuit for the Tirana-Elbasan road, 54 million EUR damage

A 54 million USD damage was done to the state through the Tirana-Elbasan road, after an audit of the Ministry of Infrastructure.
Official sources at this Ministry say that Minister Damian Gjiknuri has filed a criminal report against the former Albanian Road Authority Director, Dashamir Gjika, appointed by the Socialist Movement for Integration during the Rama 1 government.
Together with Xhika they have reported Aksel Qurduka, former Director of Project Management; and Alben Alite, current Director of this unit at the Albanian Road Authority.
The Ministry had started the audit since the first days of the new government and after Xhika’s resignation.
Based on the documents referred to the Prosecution, the former Road Authority officials are accused of power abuse.
According to the Ministry of Infrastructure, the violations include other unidentified persons as well, who have not respected the contracts for the Tirana-Elbasan road.
