The Albanian Prime Minister, Edi Rama, presented to business
representatives the special support package for the manufacturing
industry. The package has 40 relieving measures, such as leasing
premises with 1 EUR, reimbursing VAT within 30 days, giving direct
support from the state budget and a number of other procedural and
fiscal facilities.
“This is our first concrete experience of intensive and step-by-step cooperation in this industry. This was an excellent experience which clearly proved how much time has been lost and how many possibilities were lost in this country, just because the lack of government’s ability to listen, reflect on the things they hear and answer in time to the requests of this industry”, Rama declared.
“The support given by this package is the best answer to all requests that we have made to the government during this period”, declared Gjergj Gjika, Chairman of the National Chamber of Manufacturers.
The manufacturers will also take back the additional taxes paid by the raise of VAT.
“The fund that will created from your tax on profit contribution will be used by you. Coordinated with the employment fund, it will make a considerable quantity of 5 million USD in the first year, which will be used by all of them who will open new jobs”, Rama declared.
“We aim to increase exports from these industries from 495 million EUR to 590 million EUR in the first year. In the second year, from 590 to 720, and in the third year, this industry will generate 900 million EUR in exports”, declared the Minister of Economic Development, Arben Ahmetaj.
But businesses have another request regarding the concession of scanning at customs, given by the previous government.
“On behalf of all manufacturers in Albania, I plead you to take measures about this. We will continue even with civil disobedience. We will block ports, because there is no reason to pay for a service that in every country of the world it is offered by the state”, Gjika declared.
“We are aware of this situation and we will work carefully to avoid the horrible consequences that could bring the implementation of this concession as it is”, Rama declared.
“We will speak about more achievements, year after year, but I am convinced that our biggest achievement is that businesses are now free to talk. After the June 23rd elections businesses can talk without fearing a fine”, Rama declared.
