A few hours after the Tirana Mayor, Erion Veliaj, met with artists, their requests were presented at the draft law for the construction of the National Theater, approved by the Council of Ministers.
The draft law provides that the theater will be built on a PPP agreement. A special negotiation commission will be established for drafting the project, part of which are two members of the theater community.
No one believes everything absolutely. What matters is that the National Theater will not lose a centimeter, and this wasn’t before on paper. Now we have to discuss other points, such as the international competition”, said actor Alfred Trebicka.
Director Altin Basha was part of the agreement with Mayor Veliaj. In an interview for Top Channel, he responded to the accusations of his fellow artist colleagues:
“We sat on the table on their request. Since the first meeting, the Alliance for the Protection of the Theater made a radical change”, he said.
However, there is resistance from the theater of the Syndicate of Scene and Screen Artists, who decided to defend the current building.
